The Elect the Lords Campaign Network

The New Politics Network is an independent political and campaigning think tank, concerned specifically with issues relating to democratic renewal and popular participation in politics. Our goal is to provide an independent and innovative debate on the future of politics. The Network's main areas of activity include active citizenship, reform of public institutions and the role of political parties.

Charter88 is the UK's leading campaign organisation for constitutional reform. Launched in 1988, the campaign has more than 80,000 signatories nationwide. It has played a leading role in the campaigns for devolution, the Freedom of Information Act and the Human Rights Act.

The Electoral Reform Society is a membership organisation which campaigns for improvements in our democracy, particularly through the use of better voting systems. The Society's preferred system is the Single Transferable Vote (STV) which is not just proportional but offers voters more choice and makes more effective use of their votes.

The Alliance Party's vision of Northern Ireland is of a permanently peaceful, stable and truly democratic society, which cherishes diversity and is committed to humand rights, equality of citizenship and social justice.

The Campaign for a Democratic Upper House (CDUH) comprises solely of Labour Party members. The Campaign believes that Labour should support a second chamber at least half of whose members are elected. The Campaign also believes that any appointed members should be chosen by an Appointments Commission, rather than through Prime Ministerial patronage.

Compass is a new initiative to galvanise the thinking and action of the democratic left. Concern, verging on despair, at the direction of New Labour needs to be harnessed constructively to force new radical thinking onto the Labour agenda.

Conservatives for Change (Cchange) works to modernise the Conservative Party and to ensure that it reflects the realities and complexities of contemporary Britain. Through a programme of constructive activity Cchange seeks to play a full part in the process of Conservative recovery.

The English Democrats Party's primary objective is the creation of an English Parliament and Executive within the United Kingdom with the same powers as the Scottish Parliament and Executive.

The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
