I have lot to offer in Lords - failed candidate

Published in icWales on Tue 11th Apr 2006

A FAILED Labour election candidate who lost the party's safest seat defended her appointment today as a working life peer.

Maggie Jones, a senior figure in the public sector union Unison, is among Labour's six appointees.

She suffered a shock defeat in last year's general election when she lost the stronghold seat of Blaenau Gwent to independent Peter Law.
